Started having some STN on a monti I had. Im pretty sure its my salinity is too high. Dropped my salinity and seemed to have stopped. Salinity is the number one thing I have been struggling with. Not a single piece of equipment gives me the same reading. Apex Probe, Refractometer, Hydrometer and Hanna Salinity Tester HI98319.

I remember a topic coming up like this a few years ago and a of use chimed in with similar incident over the years happening around the winter time. Some thought maybe mold spores in the air or even pollen from the trees and plants out side.

My suggestion is to check all you magnets? Inspect all your pumps and magnet holders. A few years back I had a 1st gyre pump have a leaking magnet on the holder. I lost a few colonies from rtn. It was the lead to the demise of my 300g days.

I always change it carbon blocks and di at same time. Maybe a root cause was a gem tang had died on a powerhead and I didn’t notice it and the body was almost all gone?
