apparently lol

my nitrates were like 60 last time i checked

this stuff says if u add all of it it should reduce by 30 ppm in a 100g system. so i added half of it

that was like 3ish weeks ago i think, so damn

i'm so lazy at testing n/p i probably should be more careful

luckily my tank produces nitrates like nobody's business :ROFLMAO: so it shouldn't be hard to get it back up a bit

Caught my orangeback who was being aggressive to my red line wrasse of all things so I picked up a smallish maleish pintail fairy from that reef factory place

ill probably do httm on him soon along with my nem clowns as they’re in the tank with him

i took a chance on this sun coral frag hoping it was healthy without any pe

I put it in my qt tank and fed just a tiny amount of calaneez then just waited til late at night

some stuff I’ve had in qt awhile. Random green tip torch and a small frag of the Ora stellar stylo that rtned on me, but the tiny frag seems to be doing good

and some uc Solomon Islands pectinia, I like the pattern in it. Hopefully my fish don’t also love it 😂

some cool stuff in there, but most importantly lots of reds that I need lol

and I sent in a triton just to see how things were. I had been dosing iodine and strontium a bit more so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going too ham with that stuff

and po4 is stupid high again, where did my 0.33 go 🧐😂

and some iron creeping up, not sure where that would be coming from. new poly filter time i guess

Looking great Matt. Is that one with yellow tips the one you mentioned you were gonna pick up? That's real nice.

EDIT:

I forgot about sun corals, I need to get me some of them eventually.

yeah the one over the the pocillopora, it's pretty cool. i love me some smoothskins

i've been on the lookout for sun corals and dendros, but they always look like crap at lfs. and seem rare online, so i figured for $25 i'd just give it a whirl. i'd love to be able to toss some of these in some dark spots of my tank, but we'll see if i can even keep it alive lol

Glued and moved some stuff, getting pretty full.. but I’m sure I can squeeze a few more in there 😃

I still have a couple more corals in qt but two I already have in pc rainbow and Walt Disney

I’d like a nice collection of lower light deep water smooth skin types to put lower in the tank and maybe toss in a couple other high end types here or there. And I gotta get me an Oregon tort frag

on the fish front I had picked up a meleagris leopard and pintail wrasse, but unfortunately neither made it. Leopard died from something internal and the pintail broke its spine yesterday so I had to euthanize it ☹️ I really hate qting wrasses. Maybe I’ll go back to using copper on them in the future..

Any thread to follow your hydrogen peroxide bath treatment.? thanx
sure

it's based on this

humblefish did a video on it

it's really pretty easy, i bought a 1 gallon jar at some home goods type store, so it's 20 mL of 3% h2o2 per 1g. you definitely want to be pretty exact as that's treating at 150 ppm, more gets dangerous for some fish. i killed a wrasse way back when i doubled the dosage on accident. wrasses don't like the baths, but wrasses don't like anything qt ime

https://humble.fish/community/index.php?threads/fish-peroxide-compatibility-list.1789/

pretty comprehensive list at this point of fish tolerating the baths

i've had issues getting wrasses through httm, fairies in particular seem to love to just be casually dead somehow. i'm guessing they crash into something and break their spines which could happen in any qt tank, but i might change things up with them going forward

i can say for sure that just 1 bath doesn't do a ton by itself. i've done one bath and then tried to observe and like 3 weeks later i've had velvet pop up twice. so i'm guessing it knocks a lot of velvet off initially, but without followup it then builds back up. but in a pinch it's definitely the best bath to give a fish imo

I see you like a lot of fish like me and have a similar tank size. I am think of getting a new skimmer and saw you have the Tunze 9410 DC. How do you like it?

good taste 😂

In general I really like the skimmer, it does the job for sure. I maybe should’ve gone with the larger size? Granted my tank is stocked more like a sane persons 200g lol

the downsides I’ve found are for whatever reason bubbles like to escape the lid so I used to get salt spray in my sump like crazy. I think this is a normal thing for this skimmer, solved fairly easily with just rubbing some vegetable oil around the openings

the other not great thing is the noise. The pump can be quite loud, but I should caveat with I rarely clean it. I’m also going to try to submerge it a bit deeper than I currently have it. But yeah I finally solved my trickle noise only to get the hum of a skimmer pump lol

but as far as skimming out nasty black brown stuff from the water it does a great job. Footprint wise it’s also pretty small which is nice. It’s a super weird shape because Germans but I’m a fan overall

I swapped out the octopulse 4 for 2 tunze 6095s and I think I’m content with flow now. Maybe down the road a gyre shooting to the left side might be ideal, but since I just have frags I think it’s ok

I also removed my turf scrubber and put a nyos reactor with gfo in. Eventually the plan is to do some macro but for now just trying to lower po4.. which I should check as I added the gfo like a week ago 😂

my tank is going ok, although i lost a couple corals i got semi recently. i had slowly increased alk to 9.9, which is higher than i prefer, so maybe that was it, but all were just kinda looking unhappy generally

the turf algae returned again, that freaking stuff, so i added reef flux a few days ago. seems to slowly be losing color and go back to hell where it came from. but i'm sure it'll be back in a few months lol. i might have to cave and get a tang.. but idk my foxface eats it, just not enough. and cuc seems to avoid it for whatever reason

i think i'm going to add a t5 hybrid soon enough. i was thinking i'd do led bars for that nice full coverage, but i just want to give t5 a whirl for awhile. i've really been cranking up the whites lately, so i'll have to figure out a bulb combination that isn't going to windex the tank much, thinking 2 blue+ and probably a couple of the whiter type bulbs should be nice
