Blue lights are called actinics, it doesn't make corals grow, it is more for show, or for morning, and evening light, if you are using MH with 20000k then you don't need them because 20000k is blue enough, i use mine for morning, and evening light. Hope that helps.

As b_shady and jessesoto33 have stated, the blue or more specifically "Actinic" bulbs are usually used for an added effect when using MH bulbs. When using a T5 setup, the blue spectrum (14k+) are usually the preferred bulbs as it has been shown to produce the most growth.

We recommend a combination of a Actinic (ATI Blue+) and Redish (KZ Figi Purple, ATI Procolor) bulb to produce a very nice dawn and dusk color.
