He definetely is....

1 month mark and he is fatter than ever and the best eater I have ever seen!

And less than news but I also introduced a madarin dragonet at the same time who is also still hanging in there....I bred and then seeded the tank with tiggerpods...seems to be doing good....he is a little skinny for my tastes but I like my fish FAT! so he is alright

Paul, here's mine... I got him a few days after u... straight from Hawaii, 2 incher.

He ate all my sponges in 1 week, now he fights for flakes & pellets.

I've re-scoured the net and found out the creator of new life spectrum kept a group of MIs alive for 5 years. He lost everything in a hurricaine.

Dont forget, they also like a lot of flow...

Mine did initially and probably would if he got hungry but I keep him fed on Spirulina

He was mainly nipping at sps...never saw him once go for zoas or other softies but I do not have any lps in the tank yet so maybe he might go for those...but I think he is pretty well trained now

Any nipping at corals from either of your idols??

I have kept Idols on 2 occasions. I was successful getting them to eat nori that was been treated with garlic. I can't remember the brand, but it was not cheap. Both of mine also ate spectrum pellets. PE mysis with selcon works too.

You may need to dump a lot of food in the tank if you have other fish that are competitive for food. However, once they start eating, they are fine.

When you see them for sale, have them feed them. If the fish does not look at all interested, I would pass until you find one that at least tried to eat. I they taste the food and spit it out, you have a chance at getting them to eat. I got both of mine from Tongs.

Yeah He was first in my tank for a reason....I wanted no competition and give him the best survival rate possible.....I have seen added 10 more fish...my sailfin is quite large and my unicorn tang is too...they dont like him too much....but I feed them all pellets then my MI spirulina he eats just fine....sadly from past experience I know they are a timid fish....but all is well so far he is still the most graceful of all in the tank

I know this post is a few months old, but our "Billy Idol" was an awesome fish. He was with us for almost 2 1/2 years before he passed on from stress after a move. (Thanks Navy).
