So after much searching, waiting, shipping, waiting some more, some more shipping, and waiting even more :( I finally got to snap some quick pics with my new macro lens. It's a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX macro lens mounted on a Rebel XT body. Here's what I had time to collect out of about a half hour of rushed shooting with no tripod, no flash, no white balance and no experience with a macro lens :hmmmm:. Most of the shots are taken at ISO 1600 (hence the slight grain) to be fast enough for freehand shooting at various f stops. Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated, please don't hesitate to tell me what you think (I've got learning and practicing to do for sure.....but at least be gentle :ahhhhh: :p ). Too bad I'm too late for this month's contest. Enjoy! :)

Thanks for the compliments guys.....but I know I've got a lot of work ahead of me 'til I'm satisfied (**** artists:fisheye:)

Just a word of caution, before anyone goes out and spends a grip on a DSLR and macro lens. I highly recommend it, but it's not the equipment that takes the photos. Manual SLR photography can get pretty involved and macro photography is even further from point and shoot.....there's quite a learning curve so you gotta be open minded, committed and patient. :)

Mike, I took these shots the day of the deadline and didn't realize it 'til the next day when it was too late  I probably would have submitted one of the yuma pics.....maybe next time
