Tank size 250g total nyos 300 skimmer(rums for 6hrs a day) no fuge no gfo only carbon
Powder brown, blue tang, & 2 clown fish I know this fish load is nothing. My nitrates are at 15ppm and phosphates are 0 hanna and red sea. I have been dosing phosphates twice a day corals all look great PE is out. But I can not register phosphates. 2 hours after I dose I get a green sheen algae on glass. If I clean it does not come back till the next time I dose.

You have dead dry rock, so it's going to uptake PO4 until it reaches a saturation point, at which point it will start to show on test kits. How long this takes depends on how much rock the system has and how much PO4 is available. Dry rock is extremely hard to establish quickly and usually takes the better part of a year before it stabilizes. Bottled bacteria isn't going to help establish a bio-filter, but established live sand and live rock will help speed this process up. I can you now, that things will most likely get ugly in your system before it gets better, so be prepared.

Always tricky to put in high energy corals early on with dead rock. The high light will fuel algae growth bc rocks/surfaces are not mature yet. Both algae and rock will suck up phosphorus. The more phos u put in, the worst algae will be i bet. This ugly phase is gonna be painful. Best bet is to have some heavy duty algae herbivores to clean up the mess as best as u can. Good cuc and the tang gang. And patience / time. Everyone has different approaches. I would mostly get low light easy corals and mostly fish early on. Let coraline algae and good bacteria colonize the tank first. Then sps later with more light.

I have always started tanks with sps. Diatoms and green hair were wiped out 2 weeks ago. Now the green film algae appeared. Might have to get some pods I just don't want to bottom out and get dinos.

But did you start those tanks with real ocean live rock (or established live rock) or dry rock? There's a massive difference between the two.

Well, I would agree that dino is worst than any type of algae. So if ur asking if you should dose more phos to be in detectable range, I would say yes as long as you do it slowly. I would put on a dosing pump and spread out the dose slowly over time.
