What’s the best way to trap a fish? I need this Emperor Angel out! He’s been good for a while not nipping at corals and now since I’ve been putting more coral in the tank he thinks it’s food for him.

Also once he’s out does anyone want him? Healthy eats everything about 3” in size

Sorry - you’re 45 miles from me so will have to pass on the Emperor. Hope others nearby can pick him up.

The best way to catch a fish without a fishtrap is pretty simple, just wait until they fall asleep lol. Keep the room the tank is located pitch dark, then suddenly turn on a bright flashlight (UV flashlight seems to work really well also). This stuns them for a good second or two while they're out in the open, which should give you enough time to scoop them up. Have a big net and a long stick ready, sometimes you have to use stick to steer them out of the rocks and towards the net. I caught some of the smartest fishes this way, I caught them lol. Just wait about 3 hours after the lights go off when they're deep asleep

The problem with my tank is I have about 300+ lbs of live rock that they all sleep deep in their caves and me with a net I’m bound the break all my acros off the rocks.

I forgot to mention that you have to point the flashlight directly into their eyes, if possible, or at least close to it in order to stun them. Kind of like a flash bang lol. Hit them with the flashlight through the glass instead of lighting the top of the tank. This will stun them more. I think you should still give it a go despite all those caves. The caves usually have tiny areas where you can Polk the stick through, this will encourage them to leave the cave then BAMMM lol. Here's a pro tip, take off your shirt before trying to catch a fish, this way you don't overheat lol

Quickly drop the net vertically into the water then do a quick swipe(y) it might take a few tries but you will get him eventually lol :) good luck brotha!

For me — almost impossible to catch the fish given all the intricate rock structures and low canopy. If you have an open top and your tank is small enough, you can tear down the rock structure and remove the fish. It’s doable on my 150gal but will take a day on my 450gal. Not impossible but doable…with a lot of sweat and swearing! ;)

Sorry for the rant…
