Hey

I found a buyer for my 24g nanocube, but he wants me to set it up at his house. I am willing to do it, but wanted to get your guy's on how I would accomplish this efficiently and safely for the fish.

My plan was to...
1. Get fish into a big plastic container with a cover that has holes for air.
2. Siphon all the water out
3. Keep rocks/sand in the tank
4. Move everything to the new place and put everything back in

I would really appreciate your input and suggestion to make this "move" headache-free and safe.

You need more then a "big plastic container with a cover that has holes for air." Get a air pump & airstone for the container to aerate the water while you are doing the other things. I"d also remove the rocks from the tank before moving the tank. All it takes is one rock hitting the glass & no more tank. I'd also consider replacing the sand depending on how old it is. An aged sand bed that has been stirred up can cause a cycle.

How far are you traveling?
I purchased a complete tank a while back.
Fish and coral stayed in a bucked for about four hours from break down to setup. I took no loss.
Figure it's less time then if you purchased fish or coral with over night delivery.
You shouldn't have any problems.

might want to do a small water change since you will be stirring up alot of crap...
i would probally use 75% old water and 25% new water so there is no spikes...

done this many times
fish and corals in buckets
take the rock and sand out in another bucket
keep 75 % of the water in jugs

re set the tank up
put the sand and rock in
fill the tank with the 75% water
add 25% new saltwater
fish and corals back into the tank
