Hi everyone, I took a couple years break from reefing and ready to come back, I purchased a 20G Waterbox and plan to stock with anemones / clownfish. Going to try to document here , would like recommendations on lighting , I like a blue look considering radion xr 15, or Dalua led

I would check out Reefi Uno Pro, especially for the price and spectrum, it's way better than the lights listed and will upgrade with you in the future. It's overpowered for your size, but will last a long time. It's roughly the same size as the xr15, but more power than the xr30.

Thank you, I’ll have to look into those!

Not too much progress to report , live rock came from gulf live rock , added hermit crabs and snails and tigger pods. Ordered orphek Natura so going to give that a try this run.

next purchases will be a nano gyre , gravel vac and then hopefully some live stock in the coming weeks

I was giving away live rock and laverda offered an anemone , of course I said yes! Very generous and nice thanks again I will have to pass it along down the road.

levels have been looking good, 8.2 PH 0-10 nitrate alkalinity is staying 9-9.5 , I am dosing 1ML of All for reef weekly. Phosphates are the only thing I am working on , they were over .9, I lowered using chemi pure elite to .44 ppm

not quite sure why my phosphate was so high, I was topping off using filtered water from fridge. Then it hit me , tested the filtered water and phosphate .3 ppm 10 or so nitrate. Yep I am dumb. So I am going to be getting my water from one of the water stations at Walgreens/ralphs or at a LFS from now on. Other than that , things are looking good

Save up and buy yourself a RO/DI system, it's the best investment one can make in this hobby. I see secondhand ones here all the time and you don't need anything fancy. The Geek Pure membranes from Amazon are just as good as the others for a fraction of the price.

Ye I keep seeing this come up , I might have to bite the bullet and purchase one. I live in an apartment so hopefully can still use it , that’s why I’ve been hesitant to purchase one

Woah that's a good number of clown fish! How do you deal with fish aggression?
Total of 8 clownfish. I have seen no aggression , they mostly shoal and stay together in a ball. A big part of why they get along is they are all from the same clutch /bought at the same time. They were labeled as Perculas but may be oscellaris. The goal is to have a harem , so I will be adding more anemones , the stocking is complete otherwise

If you're in an apartment, i recommend one of these - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KIJZE0S

it basically lets you T into an ordinary hose going to a faucet handle. so it is very apartment safe. I also am in an apartment, this was a necessity since I couldn't adjust the plumbing or do a saddle type connector. This is just the one i got, there may be other / better / cheaper options.

Making your own RODI is preferred, but for 20gal, getting filtered water from LFS is definitely doable to maintain that volume. Get a couple 5 gallon jugs and you are good.

Phosphate .53ppm
Alkalinity 9.2 dkh
No ammonia , no nitrite , no nitrate
Ph 8.3

levels are ok , I screwed up phosphate by topping off with fridge water that had high phosphate . Lanthium chloride will be here Saturday. Also thinking about an order of macro algae to get ahead of any “ugly” algae

Mine is connected to the faucet in our laundry room with a nozzle adapter, so it's not a permanent thing. So there are options for connecting and disconnecting if that's something you need?
