Morning All!

Just moved to Central Coast - Vandenberg AFB near Lompoc. Finally got my 60 cube set up and filled. I'm an Army guy so I have moved 9 times in the past 12 years. I should be here long enough to get the tank established pretty good (~3 years). Looking forward to scrounging for livestock!

Ty for sharing. What do you plan to house in the tank
Nothing spectacular, a few fish. Probably do a mixed reef. I haven't ventured into SPS yet in my life so I may dip my toes in that water. Start with some hardy Acros and Montis.

The stand is super sweet! How did you make them?
Thanks! Built out of wood I had on hand except the trim. The door was pieces of scrap wood with a bunch of different stains that I glued together. The process was a pain, but came out looking good and matches the buffet that we have to please the wife.

Welcome. Setup looks good, really liking the finished door & top. Curious to know what fish will you be introducing first.
Probably a couple clownfish for the kiddos. Can't go too exotic when I know the tank has an expiration date in a few years. 8 more years until I can stay in one place and really put some thought into a stock list.

In the middle of the uglies. Diatoms, green algae starting, currently have a bacteria bloom so the water is pretty cloudy. Just gonna let the tank settle down before adding too much, and you caught me in the middle of a water change so everything is a bit stirred up. Will definitely update once things start looking like less of a toxic soup. Currently just have 2 clowns and a plug of daisy cutter zoas.

Whelp, water has cleared up. Have a touch of GHA but dinos just started rearing their ugly heads. have been stocking stuff I can find close. So far just some zoas, palys and mushrooms, a purple stag, green monty, good sized torch, and a 3 headed duncan. Livestock are living it up! Trying to find corals in the Central Coast aint easy, and the Army isn't letting me travel to LA county due to COVID, so I'll just keep stocking when I can.

It’s looking good! Some one from Lompoc post on here once in a while, I can’t remember what his user name is, but he certainly has a nice collection of mushrooms. .

Edit:
I just went through my PM’s and found his user name. @reefhound
