Not a ton to update. Tanks so far are doing good. No major issues or ugly stage.

I did have one major let down. Lost the blue Gig I added a couple months back. Was doing great but then started going through deflation cycles so I decided to treat it in a hospital tank but it didn’t make it through the treatment. Super bummed as that really tied everything together in the Gig tank.

The main tank I’ve already seemed to go crazy and have run out of space. Trying to not overload with too many acros because I want them to grow into bigger colonies. Think I may have pushed the threshold a bit though already. Got lucky to get a few large pieces from some cool reefers so the tank doesn’t feel totally empty with small frags.

Now it’s just waiting time and trying to keep things stable and hopefully the main tank in a year or so will start looking a lot more filled in.

Yeah, there was a local reefer in Temecula selling the large colony for a smoking deal so I jumped on it. Have a piece waiting for you if you want it!

Wonder what anyone’s thoughts would be for the very top cap center piece location. I was contemplating doing a JF Solar Flare in the hopes I could get it grown out into a large bushy style crown. Keep going back and forth on it.

A millie would be awesome, as they kinda table out, but anything that would corymbrose would work.

Thanks for sharing that (corymbrose) word. I didn’t know that before and that’s exactly the growth structure I’m thinking of. Now just need to decide which one would be the best.

Think tenuis and similar, as they share that growth form/pattern. A. aculeus, latistellla, subulata all share that form. I think common names or trade names would be voodoo magick, Pink Floyd, etc
Not quite tables, but broad upright branchlets with spaces in between.

Oh rats! I’m deeply sorry to hear about the loss of the blue gig. They are super sensitive and always require hyper care. I hope that your green & purple are doing well.

And these gigs are so crazy sensitive. I think that is the appeal. Seems like the cipro bath helps?

Ah man, sorry to hear about the gig. I love those things, wish they loved me!
I'm seeing greens-blues up there in that daylight spectrum. I'd be looking for something truly red or yellow to break it up. High par, and if you're thinking millepora look at Redwing milli, or if you want it to look wild under blues as well CC Bahama Mama. It's fairly red under daylight, but the little gold string polyps are pretty rad. High par and high flow, millepora is gonna table more. When up high, I feel like sometimes you end up looking at the underside/shaded area from the front more often unless you really have a blanket of light front to back. Nasuta have cool growth, as do the many variations of bali-shortcakes. Both come in colors and growth structures that might accent what you have up top well but not sure if they like to be cranked with par. Edit: Forgot yellow, if you can find a real deal RR Pink Floyd, that sucker gets nice and yellow with red polyps. High flow stays thick and bushy. Give it space or a large mount to encrust, It'll take it's time, spread out like a pancake then next thing you know shoot up nubs and you've suddenly got a colony. Cheap alternative is pink lemonade, up high it gets yellow thin branch could be described as a bush.

Looking forward to watching this thing fill it. Incredible system

I actually have a RR Pink Floyd on a lower shelf. I had a nice colony in my old tank and lost it but it was one of my favorite pieces and was able to save a frag. Maybe I move him up to be the center of the show.
