Wow the rustic barn style of the stand looks nice! Following along. Those Fiji dumps look amazing too.

Thanks everyone!

I'm contemplating the plumbing. The return is just going to be red vinyl hose that I have from my last build.

For the drain, I'm concidering 1.5 inch pool vacuum hose instead of pvc. What do you think? My first successful attemp at a salt water tank (20 years ago) used a HOB overflow with pool vaccum hose. Also, I want the plumbing to be changeable since I might be adding another tank to this build. I can go pvc and use a lot of unions but I kinda want to see how pool vacuum hose works out.

Any ways, once I figure that out I can start getting it wet.

I think it would be functional. I would find a way to mount them so it doesn’t just look like dangling hoses and keep it with nice angles like 45 degrees or 90 degree angles. So pretty much treat it as a whole PVC pipe. Just for looks

That's what I thought. What I have in mind is putting the pool hose over some pvc pipe and puting a hose clamp to insure it seals. They come in 3 foot lengs so I might have to drop the line behind the sump and loop back up to it.

I can also clamp or zip tie them to the inside of the stand so they don't have a u bend.

For this build im not to focused on pretty plumbing or color coordination but it does have to be clean looking

Yeah that sound good. Keep only a small amount visible to make it look clean.

What salt are you going to use for the initial fill and what's your cycle plan?
Tropic Marin pro. Might as well set up for success. Just has the levels I keep. I’ve decided I’m going with the Brightwell approach to cycle this tank. Once I get a 0 ammonia reading after 3 dosing cycles I’ll transfer the maxpect bio sphears and some fish. I’ll also get the fudge going and as soon as the pod population explodes, I’ll transfer the rest of the fish and corals.

Here's the skimmer I'll be using, Skimz SH1. As you can see it's tiny. If I recall correctly its rated for 60g lightly stocked, 40g medium, and like 30g heavy.

Since the primary function of the skimmer is to be an ozone reactor, I'm not worried about it being under sized. My skimmers haven't pulled much since I started running ozone.

I'll just be adding 2 300w heaters and 4 probes to this section of the sump. I'll probably get the IM frag stand and use this section as a frag tank. I have an a360we I can throw on here.
