Did some electrical work so I can have outlets next to my apex board.

The board will be covered by this guy

So it’ll look like this

Also added 6 mollies because I have algae growing in the tank and this tank is to small for a tang. 4 of them started schooling and cleaning the rocks already.

Connected my ATO reservoir to the RO unit under my kitchen sink. The RO is also hooked up to 2 3 gallon reservoir tanks and to the fridge. The fridge is right up against the adjacent wall so I T’ed the line on the fridge and ran it through the wall.

I have 2 optic sensors in the ATO reservoir that will activate the solenoid on the DI reactor. For safe measure I have a float switch on it too so it won’t over flow if a problem arises.

looking good man! So you have top shutoff and a sensor that kits the unit back on when it gets low?

Yup. So the ATO works like normal. In the reservoir I have a high and low optic sensors. When the low sensor is above water it turns on the solenoid to fill the reservoir. When it hits the top sensor it closes the solenoid. There’s a float valve just in case the high sensor fails and doesn’t shut off the solenoid or if the solenoid fails in the on position

The tank has been looking like poop. I will not be setting up another tank this way again. I also was informed, by a reefer down the street that the water quality here sucks. This could be part of the problem too. I sent in an icp to see what’s up with the tank water and the RODI water.

Sorry to hear bud, but I gotta say its cleaner than mine right now! I wish mine algae was that trim. Looking forward to seeing what the ICP test shows.

Bummer but doesn’t look terrible.

Do you think it had to do with how you cycled the tank? Just curious as to what you meant by not setting up another tank the same way.

Yeah, the way I cycled the tank and set it up. I usually do live rock and sand along with the zeovit 14 day cycle. With this tank I used dry rock and dry sand. To cycle it I used the Brightwell fish less cycle. There just isn’t enough biodiversity and that’s why I have all the dinos and algae issues. I usually dose the KZ Zeobak but this time I used MB7.

I ordered some Dr. Tim’s one and only to get some diversity in this tank. It should be here tomorrow. I’ll take pictures tomorrow to see a before and after. Hopefully it works.
