Anyone see any locally? Heard these are better than emeralds? Anyone have experience?

Thanks!

Save ur money bro. I tried them and they were so shy and delicate so I just bought a bunch of emeralds and they took care of an infested 5 footer in a couple weeks.

Good to know. Read a bit that they are better than emeralds, but have yet to see one or talk to someone with experience.

I had the same experience as Juan (bck2hobby) I got like 10 and they all died unexpectedly within a week and I never saw them eating bubble. After reading some other people's review, they seem to be very delicate crabs and die super easy. Valen Pitho (no pun intended) lol

My experience is that they are the same as emeralds: you get a few super bubble algae eaters that knock it down in days-weeks, you get most of them that do a bit of work and get lazy, and some that do nothing.

The upside of pithos is I've never had one go rogue on corals, whereas I've had plenty of emeralds I've had to yank out of the tank after eye witness coral feasting.

Mine also died soon after introducing to the tank. But I blame my hawkfish.

I went looking for some at my LFS. The shop keep told me thay they just hide in the sand and do little to clean turf or bubble algae and for this reason he doesn't sell them.

So just because I still wanted to try and was still hopeful, I recently added 2 to my reef cleaners order. I put 1 in my frag tank he scurried across the bottom hid next to a large frag and died. The other one I put in my display tank he dug into the sand then I saw him once the next day, and then I never saw him again. I do see the emeralds picking away at the bubble and turf algae still.

I ordered 5 from reefcleaners because my emeralds weren't interested in the bubble algae. I threw some clumps of bubble algae in a container with the Pitho crabs and they all immediately started munching on it. They took care of my bubble algae in my tank. Lost 4 of them during the molting process due to parameters being off, but still have one in my tank and no issues with bubble algae despite lots of it in my refugium.
