So looks I'm finally going to get the tank in the next month or so. The person I'm buying from just got a call from CDA that his tank will be ready in 2 weeks. Once he sets up his new tank, and I will get his old tank. I may need some help to move his old tank, it's 6 ft. long tank.

And I think I've given up on using the outdoor sump idea because I'm not sure how well insulated that I can do the Rubbermaid shed.

I haven't done crap lately, too lazy and lots of family things. So I haven't cured the rocks or even bought a sump yet. So it's going to be really slow setting this tank up.

My tax return from last year is also lost in the mail, so there's that. And that's delaying my tax returns this year. Try calling IRS, and they basically just hang up on you. It's terrible. Need more funds to set up this tank.

You're local to me Jimbo327. If the dates line up (weekend or evening), I'll help with the lifting. Just give me a heads up so I can plan it.

Thanks! I just talked to the guy. So I was mistaken. CDA didn't call him that his new tank is ready...instead CDA had an issue with their glass cutter, and they haven't even started on building his tank yet. Oh my lord! LOL. So he is cancelling his order with CDA for the new tank after this 2nd delay. I guess CDA has too much business at this point.

But the twist is that....he is planning to get out of the hobby completely. I was not ready to hear that news. So it seems that I'm still getting his old tank. I need to get my act together. I wasn't expecting to have the tank until June/July. I'm praying my tax refund comes soon.

Looks like the tank may be ready to be moved to my place tentatively next Sunday (April 10th) morning. I need 2 more guys to help me lift this tank. Should be quick as we can roll the tank on furniture dollies mostly to where it needs to go 90% of the way. I'm also buying his old AA sump, so that's a bonus.

Thanks!

My son is super excited about having a tank. I have so many things going on right now with kids, work, and other side projects…I feel a bit overwhelmed. My plan is just get the tank in the house and slowly set it up. Definitely won’t be like everyone else who has all the rocks and equipment ready to go.

I've got a obligation 3pm on tomorrow but if it's lining up for tomorrow morning and you need an extra set of hands, shoot me a pm.

I got a call and he said the tank is not ready to move tomorrow. Thanks. He said it’ll be another 2 weeks or so.

We committed to the morning of May 7th (Sat) for the tank move. If anyone is available and can come help me move the tank into the house, let me know. Would really appreciate it. I’m near Orange, CA.

Well, I'm officially back in the hobby as I have a big tank sitting in my living room. But I'm definitely not ready, so I will be going very slow and trying to figure out what I need. CDA still needs to finish painting my stand doors to white. I need more rocks and need to figure out the plumbing. I also need to figure out how to hang these lights from my ceiling, it's a lot heavier than I thought. I got a lot of used equipment, so need to wash them as well. Plus I have a lot of older equipment in my shed from my previous builds, but may still be good. Feeling a bit overwhelmed. Especially when I see everyone's build threads as having all the equipment ready to assemble on day 1.

And wifey said it needs to look nice and clean.

I told my kids to get in the tank so I can take a photo, and they said no way! And went to play their video games...kids these days! LOL.

Glad you got it done! I look forward to seeing it all come together. It really is a lot of work. I would have taken my time too but with a system already running in the living room near the new tank my days were numbered!

No kidding on kids these days. Did they run off to watch youtube videos of other kids getting in their dad's tank? lol

I’m back in unwillingly. Came across some deals. Stared at it, put it up for sale for what I paid. Actually less I believe. No one wanted to buy it yet all the comments of a great deal and how they need a quarantine tank. There were more set it up posts than not.
I’ve always been the used equipment guy. Things are nutty now. Even old used stuff. A Kenya tree is no longer a Kenya tree but a Wada Wada and no longer had for free but costs $100 for a three inch piece. Don’t and won’t have any of it.
My first tank with LEDs and still not sure what to make of it, on the fence with them. My fourth tank in about twenty years and feel like I know nothing. I do know I have no plans going bigger this time around.
So welcome back to the much pondering and indecisiveness.
Funny you started this post in 2020 and just now getting started which substantiates my last sentence.

Seriously, I think I will be going on a top ramen diet to afford some of this gear.

I was joking that we used to kill mushrooms on purpose because they were growing too fast, and now they are like $200 per mushroom. LOL. Anyways, I can't even think about livestock yet. I still need to figure out how to fund all these bulkheads and piping...just simple gray piping and simple bulkheads and unions. Hoping it will be available locally and economical.

Hoping to visit some local reefers and see their setup to get some inspiration.

If you're going plain schedule 80 then check out GPS (Good Plumbing Supply) in Garden Grove 92845 for fittings. They have a very good selection over there of valves, unions ect and seem like quality pieces. I have noticed their pipes tend to be scratched up, so if you want those to look really clean then maybe order online somewhere. Cool shop though, they also stock grey pvc cement which is nice for a clean look.

Thanks for the plumbing supply source, will definitely check them out. I don’t mind if they are scratched as it will all be hidden in the stand.
