Please help me identify what this is. It is growing on some of my live rock and some spots on the bottom of the glass. I started out seeing some spots but now definitely seeing more throughout the tank. It is a dark brown or black and very tough...looks and feels like a fuzz. Any ideas on what this is and how to get rid of it?

Difficult to ID from the angle the picture was taken from. I’m assuming it’s an algae because of the area it’s growning in. From my understanding, the great majority of sponges don’t grow out in the open areas under intense lighting, sponges tend to grow in dark crevasses, under or between rocks where not much light gets to it so I’m deducing that it’s some type of algae. If it is an algae, a solution could be an urchin, I’ve had success in controlling algae’s with urchins. Hope that helps. Good luck.
