Omg - that sucks! Hope everything is ok - all those rare fish! You can always regrow corals.

Wow - my heart stopped. I thought “crash” was in chemical crash but not this! Can’t decipher from all the comments but what happened? Leaked on one of the sides?

I don't think it's a crash. The tank integrity is NOT compromised because they are way too calm. Someone must have left a valve open overnight and drained some water. He's got a huge water storage, so I think he'll probably be alright. Just wet the corals until the saltwater is made/heated.

Looks as though the guy is somewhat prepared for disaster as thats a quite a bit of saltwater to have on hand.

The tank is already filled back with water and honestly it doesn’t look that bad. Unless there is more die off, only some corals died on the top, but he can restock and it’ll grow back super quick.f

Just to show it only takes one valve, accident, mistake, and it can go sideways pretty quick. All part of the hobby tho. Every long term reefer has had some sort of crash. This is why you see experienced reefers have so much redundancy. Forgetting to close a valve, leaving ATO empty, or a leak somewhere that short out electrical…etc etc. Polo Reef will add redundancy and be back quickly. I’ll be more concerned on the connected tanks as they may have drained even more. The big tank didn’t look too bad. I hope all the fishes survived since they can just go lower into the water. Would be interesting to see what exactly happened. This would have been a disaster if he was running kalk top off or ATO dumped in.

I bet someone is getting the ax over this...
Likelihood that everything turns out just fine is high..
Knowing Andrew will absolutely throw any manufacturer under the bus if something fails, this HAS to be human error.
We all make mistakes, but, making a high profile mistake for a high profile billionaire is a bad day for everyone involved ..

It's strange because literally the previous video was about the last guy thoroughly checking on everything before leaving for the night.

So they did mention it was 1 in a million chance this happens, so I don't think that would be human error because those happen all the time.

A part of the hobby that I hate the most but yes, we all go through it every single one of us and if you haven’t, you definitely will know what it’s like sooner or later. I hope everything works out for him.

Yeah, the asking of coral donations is a bit much for me. Seriously?
I am glad I am not the only one. Millionaires asking for hand outs is a strange part of the world today when others have more significant needs. Andrew has been great for the hobby, so maybe some of the ones he has helped will pay the reefers code back. Just strange how it was approached.

My thoughts are he doesn’t want what ppl will offer or share. He is the snobbiest snob. It’s also a write off project for him. I believe it’s a non profit organization at this point.

It was a crazy change of events his wifi didn't provide notices, using ozone probably screwed his valves, rodi water bins were being cleaned and he had no backup water to make saltwater replacement. They couldn't refill it completely till the next day. Right away corals and fish started dying. Andrew said of course the nice fish from Hawaii died first.

So sad for the fishes. I love his passion for the hobby. I'm glad that it wasn't a total crash, and he's well on his way to recovery by just having the tank filled and no chain reaction crash. Usually, that is the hardest part, just the chain reaction of death.

And lesson is that water will always find the lowest and weakest point in your system.

If I was Andrew, I would not rely on wifi and just hardline the internet connection and feed into cloud. Without internet connection, you got nothing for controls. And honestly, he should have AI programming on the video feed of his tanks and sumps to detect abnormalities. If I had his funds, that is what I would do.
