Hey guys so I added a scopas tang and Salfin tang after being quarantine for 15 days with copper. Everyone was healthy so I added him to my tank two days ago. When I came home from work my scopas tang is covered in white spots. He is eating frozen food and pellets and the nori I put out. He is super active and seems ok. No other fish is showing these white spots.

Should I remove him from the tank and put him back in qt ?

How about my other fish. I could not fit them all in qt.

What’s the best I can do for the fish. Also for reference the tank had ich then I left it empty for 70 days and added fish. All fish go to qt before they go in the tank

u have to go fallow to get rid of either disease

if it's just ich (i really don't think it is) then you can feed heavy and hopefully the fish will get over it/become immune. uv would help

if it's velvet, you'll likely lose all of them. wrasses seem to survive it sometimes. aggressive UV/ozone combined with peroxide dosing might help a bit, but it looks quite advanced to start that now

generally how to tell ich apart from velvet is velvet you can't count, it's too numerous. it seems to come with a "sheen" of sorts too, like in the first pic the scopas looks to have that sheen

petco is doing their tank sale right now

i highly recommend giving the fish hydrogen peroxide baths en route to qt
20 mL per gallon for 30 min

Damn. Hopefully it’s not velvet but those spots do look very fine and numerous. But I agree whether velvet or ich it’ll take a fallow period to get rid of it completely.
