As title states. I’m in the market for a new protein skimmer. I’ve been running my 225 just strictly with a chaeto rx up until now for about 1-1.5 years. Want to switch back to a skimmer since I feel like I might be maxing out the chaeto reactor. So what skimmer do you recommend for 225g heavily stocked mixed reef more dominant with SPS. Also any recommendations on the skimmer neck cleaner?

P.S. on my old tank I used to run AquaMaxx CO3 skimmer and I liked it.

Thanks in advance.

Steve is selling an euroreef cheep, you would be hard pressed to find a better constructed skimmer anywhere at any price.

I love my Deltec. I also loved my previous RO and Aquamaxx skimmers. The RO was DC controllable but I found I always just set it at 100% so what's the point. I like the simplicity of the my Deltec.

I have their Deltec twin tech calcium reactor right now and I see the quality they use. Interested in the deltec skimmer now.

Reef Octopus and Aquamaxx skimmers are my go to skimmers.. Have both on two different tanks running for over three years now..they still work great.. (y)(y)
yeah I liked my aquamaxx from before I still have it but the pump is finicky now.
Reef Octopus looks esthetically pleasing to me. Come to think about it. I used to have the old Reef octopus int 150 and it would be a workhorse.

I've been running a Regal Reef Oct 250-INT on my 210 gallon DT and love it! Has a built in float switch to turn off the skimmer if the skimmer pump ever gets too full and is extremely quiet.

yes still running it. Not much more room. Cause I might want to add a frag rack
prob no need to oversize the skimmer then. If anything go with the skimmer that has a reliable pump. I think DC is cool but not necessary and just another thing to tune on top of another thing to tune. Aquamaxx uses Sicce pumps so that's a good thing and Tunze is tried and true.

22 years in the hobby now, and the best skimmer I have ever owned is my Reef Octopus. I did also get the neck cleaner and absolutley love it. Such a silly thing but it does help the skimmer to perform even better.

If you want to go with a Tunze or a Simplicity I have one of each I can sell you lol. The Reef Octopus really is the best choice out right now IMO. Also, great customer service from Coral Vue. After 11 months I had an impeller issue and they just sent me a new one for free. They have always had great customer service

Oh I thought u meant as of now. I think if/when I do go skimmer I will take the chaeto reactor down.
