Rainbow Chalice Frag Question

Hi guys, quick question regarding rainbow chalice. If I buy a frag with no red on it but mother colony shows red, will the frag I buy eventually show red once I grow it out or is it a luck of the draw?

Probably not, frag will need to have the colors you want on it, otherwise it will never appear
From my experience I bought a jelly bean with just green and yellow the other colors never showed up

Not sure the frag I got a while ago was 99% red with three mouths, 1-yr later it grew two mouths it slowly started to show blue/green.

I decide to move it to mid/lower of the tank and broke off the blue section since I glued it down to the rock. Blue color hasn't came back

I've read if you want all the colors make sure the frag has them but expect to pay more

Both frags were cut from same colony, one with all the colors, the other one with just blue, time passed by and they are the same just bigger

It all luck I seen some do and some don’t it’s a risk you have to take but recommend to just pay a little more and get one with multiple colors showing .

The real answer is maybe. The chalice has the genetics to do it, but nutrition, lighting, water quality,… all come into play.

Better to pay more for the frags with all the colors. I had some without the red and it stayed that way.

I got rainbow chalice from Calikid with little green, 20% yellow and the rest is red. When i put it in my tank, the yellow color began spreading out and mixed with the red color. So for chalice, i think its hard to guess.

For me I look at the color of inside the mouth and rims that determines the color later on
