I purchased a used, Red C Reefer 170 and it came with this Red Sea skimmer 300. It’s either not producing any skim mate or it’s overflowing. What am I doing wrong? I’ve put a 4 inch pedestal in my sump to raise it with the same results. Anybody else have an issue with this skimmer?

Do you have a pic of the skimmer sitting your sump? A pic will help explain the situation easier.

The water level should be at the sticker on the adjusting rod. Adjust the level so that the bubbles are just at the bottom of the cup.

When you bought the system, did you do a deep clean on the skimmer? If not I would soak it in citrus acid for a few hours and check for any objects blocking the air line and the pump opening. The water line for that skimmer show be set at the red sticker on the adjustment rod. Make sure to have it fully open on the initial running of the skimmer and adjust the bubbles to where the bottom of the collection cup.
