says on the reeftopia website that Cerith Snails eat red slime algae. can someone confirm that? and how effective?
if that is true, i would like to get some. I dont have a lot of slime, but it slowly creeps up every now and then.

thanks everyone. had a couple ppl answer the question on sdr w/ positive confirmation. just wanted to share:


- I can confirm they do eat cyano, but it takes quite a few of them to really make a difference, because cyano really can grow fast, the scarlet hermits also eat cyano too.

- Red legged mexican hermits consume cyano as well

im not sure if there are a variety of turbos available but i know the mexican turbos are a sure thing for cyano. when i had my 40, the whole sandbed would be a carpet of cyano because my ignorant self had a bioload problem from having a hippo tang, a yellow tang, a mandarin, and a flame angel. the turbos would just mow down the cyano day in and day out.

i had 4 mexican turbo snails in my 60 gallon, wiped out the red algae and cyano in no time. one of my snails were half the size of my fist too. they dont call these "turbo" for nothing
