I got a dilemma
I have a Hanna handheld refractometer and a Milwaukee
Hanna is reading 1.024 on my tank and mixed water
Milwaukee is reading 1.026 on both
I already calibrated both
and for the mixed water I'm using red sea blue bucket 1/2 cup per gallon so i did 7.5 cups and was wondering why the reading was low with the hanna

so which do I trust?

Aqua Craft solution is one of the best calibration fluids for refractometers, but digital is a whole different thing. I've never trusted a digital refractometer that calibrates to zero with RO, this defies all logic. Do yourself a favor and pick up a Tropic Marin glass hydrometer or this refractometer. Also, don't buy a calibration fluid that requires shaking before use, this is not a solution that you can trust.

The Milwaukee have to be cleaned with RO water after every time used. I wouldn’t trust a digital refractometer. I personally use a Vee Gee refractometer for years. It’s lab grade. I don’t use calibration solution at all. I only use RO water, because that what the manual suggested.

I made a thread asking if a very expensive seawater digital refractometer was worth it. I have just settled on having 3 ways to verify results. Hannas pen, regular Refractormeter, and hydrometer

Every single time I have tested with different option for salinity I always got a different number. Never have they ever been the same. I just pick one instrument and stick to it. Currently sticking to Hannah.

you can trust both honestly, not sure if you have the handheld Hanna or the one like the Milwaukee. The accuracy of the Hanna handheld is 0.001 sg and the Milwaukee is 0.002 sg so you could have a mix of 1.025 sg haha

why do you have both? I would just pick one and stick to it
