I’m looking to get a second refractometer because mine has been giving me inconsistent readings even though I weigh my salt before I mix it. Any recommendations?

VeeGee's are nice, but not cheap. My personal preference is DD Aquarium Solutions. The key is using the proper calibration solution/fluid. Either make your own via Randy's recipe or get Aqua Crafts solution. Don't buy calibration solution that requires shaking before use like Brightwell's or BRS.

I have the Veegee one is it’s pretty accurate. You don’t need to use store calibration fluid. According to the user manual all you need is distilled water or RODI. I have been using RODI and have no issue with it.

Which model veegee refractometer do you use?
