regen DI resin

I do so much DIY i found myself wondering why i don't regenerate my DI resin. Anyone do this? Seems simple enough. Does the resin function like new?
I also think from a micro plastics standpoint this would be more eco friendly. I always feel guilty dumping it in the trash.

Yeah im leaning towards not worth it but i already dose sodium hydroxide and have muriatic acid for the pool so I have the materials. I might start saving the used resin and regen in larger batches so I can rotate more easily.
