Looking to upgrade the return for my 50gal cube... Does anyone have experience with either of these or something comparable they would suggest?

They are both good pumps... but I would go with the Sicce and save 20w for something that's running 24/7.

I'm currently using Sicce 3.5 on my 50g tank... how i like it? I don't... it's not as quiet as it says and heard from other people... I also have used 1262 and it was not quiet either and made me buy this Sicce pump not happy with both.
I just visit one of the fellow reefer's house tonight and saw Fluval pump in sump it was dead quiet.. when it's off or on can't tell the differences. Going to switch out the pump again.. I've Sicce on my bio pallet reactor too that is also humming and Vertex skimmer i've is also sicce pump and it's not that quiet not so much of motor noise but, sucking alot of air. Just my recent experiences...

I just looked up the Fluval pump... $145 for the one rated at 950gph... Shitty thing is... At 4.5' head pressure the flow drops down to 290gph

I use the ehiem in my 50gal. It is super quiet. You cant compare an ehiem with a sicce. The ehiem is very relaible, ask any one how has had an ehiem and they last for years. I have mine t-off to my gfo reactor, i save on the electricity off that. hth

he was running SP4 on his 120g tank... alot of flow in his tank. My head lost is minimal... for his tank at least 4' if that info 290gph for 4.5' is true I don't know how good flow he has and i watched.

this is odd... mine is 1262 and it's not quiet .. i've small eheim 350gph or something on my nano.. that i know it's quiet but, NOT my 1262

He's talking about the SP2. While my SP4 is not loud, its not dead silent either.

maybe it has something to do with types of materials used for plumbing.... flexible? ridged? any piping touching anywhere etc.. as for mine, i use flexible pvc piping from the pump and connects to pvc after check valve. When I touch my pipes i can feel the vibrations I even have soft padding underneath the pump too. with his fluval sp4, I feel no vibration what so ever.. so I was sold.

Although Sicce pumps look exactly like the Tunze and I have both pumps. The Tunze is silent while the Sicce is kinda loud.

Suggest to go with a reef octopus hy-3000w pump, which still has about 800GPH at 4.5' while consuming only 35 watts.

Well thanks to [MENTION=7103]tofucube[/MENTION] i went with the Sicce 3.0... And its dead silent. Its kind of strange NOT hearing anything out of my cabinet... All i hear is the water from the overflow. Def more flow than my stock pump, but wouldn't mind a little more. Ill just add another powerhead.

I just got a Deltec skimmer two weeks ago. Best skimmer I have ever owned, been in the hobby over 25 years now. Their current line is amazing.

Squeegee included in the neck, visual water level line on adjustment valve, silent, drain hose with valve. Love the thing until I have to empty it... the smell Yikes!
