I am ready to purchase a RO/DI system and I am not sure what the best one is.

Currentally I am running 2 tanks a 100 gallon reef with 30ish sump and a 90 fowlr with 20ish sump. We are looking at getting a 20 gallon QT to run with the reef when its not used as a QT, knowing that at times we will have to drain it should we need to add medications if needed.

What size should I get and brand.
I was looking at the SpectraPure MaxCap RO/DI System, 180gpd w/ Pressure Gauge & Purity Monitor for $430

OR THE 90 gpd for 370

On the above two I was looking for replacement filters and only found 3 packs not 4 is that a problem?

or the SpectraPure CSP-DI 180 GPD RO/DI System for $400.

or The Typhoon III Extreme 150gpd system made by air water ice $270

Does anyone have any experience with these or should I find a different one.

Any comments or concerns would be appricated.

I got the basic Typhoon III (5-stage) 75gpd for ~$160.
To me, thats good enough. Its not like you need to change water everyday so 75gpd is more than enough. I always have about 30-40g salt & 10g fresh RO for top offs on hand at all times.

I'm probably over simplifying this but RO/DI is RO/DI...don't go cheap but is there any real extra bang for spending 400+ on a system? Rather spend it on fishes.

MaxCap is the best. IMO the 180 GPD is worth the extra $50-$60 bucks since the hand selected membranes on their own run around $95.

For replacement filters you'll want to change the sediment and carbon block every 4-6 months. The first DI should be changed when the output is around 6 TDS I believe, but you may want to post on the Spectrapure forum on RC. For the final DI replace it when the reading is anything over 0 which should be at least one year.

Oh.. for the 180 GPD, you'll need at least 65 PSI. Usually not a problem but worth measuring the pressure.

I was looking at that one too but it does not have the monitars and such does the III have the float?

Incidentilly, I'm in the process of building and then selling a complete 8-stage RO/DI system (dual 75gpd membranes and triple DI canisters) with 60-gallon storage barrel, 3.2 gallon pressure tank for drinking water, etc. for $500 cash

May be more system than what you need, but thought I'd offer it.

It is the ultimate system
