How many of you guys are running chillers? Specifically with T5 lighting. If no, why not?

I run a 300 gallon tank with an 8 lamp T5 fixture. If your house has AC and you maintain the temperature say around 78 or below there should be no need to run a chiller. I don't need to run a chiller. I guess it also depends on the equipment you are running ie return pump, flow pumps, etc. Anything creating additional heat.

Fans across the water above the display or sump also help a great deal, but you'll need to add addtional rodi top off.

I’m running a 160 tall, 48” 4 bulb T5, no AC in the house. I forget how hot T5 get compared to my LED. First time running T5 since like 2008.

Do you have a controller? Set a fan to turn on and off depending on the temperature. When I was in my apartment with no central ac that kept my tank within range.

No controller, I was considering setting up a couple fans tho.. I think I may go with a controller on this setup.

150gallon 5x2x2 w/ 8 HO T5s retro fit. No chiller cuz the unit has central ac, so the whole place stays at 78. I do run fans on the sump & inside the canopy to push & pull heat out once all 8 lamps switch on but like bean mentioned, I do have to top off more often.
