Hey fellow reefers, im trying to buy a nice scoly but first i want to educate my self.
*How do you keep them happy?
*What do you feed them?, how often?
*How old is your scoly? Is it true that they do not live more than 3 year in our reef tanks?
I will be really grateful is you guys can give some feedback
My tank parameters are pretty stable, i have a mix tank, softies, lps and sps
Thanks for reading

Jose nailed it. I kept one for 4 years with weekly or biweekly feedings and then i got tired of fighting off the cleaner shrimp and other fish that would take the pellets from the scoly and slowly but surely it died. Cynarina eats fast, scoly takes forever to get that web on the pellets qnd take it in. Another thing that will mess with scoly is too much flow, again, because it will blow off its food. Now i have 2 cynarinas and 2 scols in a nano with no fish for the time being and no shrimp or other hungry inverts to take its food. But i still have to place my hand over the return or turn it off for a good 2-5 mins so it can take in all the lps pellets i place on top.

Good advice
Pretty much if they eat in a regular basis, they will survive
What pellets do you prefer for them?

I have been using these now but in the past i used regular fish food pellets. I also broadcast feed Reef Roids at night or when i see they're in hungry mode with their polyps out.

Pellets and low flow worked for me. Except I have a hungry yellow Tang that always took their food. I've seen people use the top of a 2liter bottle to create a dome to target feed them also.

I have kept them for years with no spot feeding. I do broadcast pellets and occasionally flake. I would assume everyone's experience is different depending on many variables, one being flow. I guess mine have been lucky enough to catch food in the water column due to my flow patterns. They also don't like to be blasted with light IME.
