So here i go trying my hand at resuscitating another scoly. This one is a little far gone, but each piece that has seperated has its own mouth, so i may be able to come out of this with 3 scolys for the price of one lol! I realy should have taken a pic before i dipped it for comparison. It was so covered in gha i didnt really even know what i was i for. Anyway, scrubbed the algae, took off a hitchhiking brittle star, and let my turbo go at it for the remainder. Here it is now:

What do you guys think? Wanna bet i wont kill it?

Good its starting to grow over the old skeleton now. These things grow painfully slow, but its steadily getting bigger.

Theres a before and after. I may take you up on that fragging. This thing has no feeding response as of yet, which doesnt look good. It was literally covered in hair algae, which i think was really starving it of light. I will have to try fm then, i feed everything wicked feast, but i might have to chop everything super fine to get it to eat. I think at least if we were to cut the skeleton off that would be less energy it has to expend to try and maintain its skeleton.

I really only have my own experience, which has been, cutting skeleton seems to work well, it discourages algae growth between the jagged septa of the skeleton at the very least. And possibly being able to expend less energy, but this is just my theory, and an anecdotal one at that. Anyone else have any knowledge or hearsay?

Ok so its been a few days. This is looking really good, guys. These things are HUNGRY. I feed them and their tentacles stay out, so i feed them again. I may just keep them all on the same skeleton this time, and have a three headed scoly. Thatd be nice! Good feeding response, great polyp extension, as far as a crap half dead coral can be lol. Color is coming out... Ill keep you guys posted on the growth of this guy.

Dont overfeed. Ive read that food could rot inside them and kill them. This might be true, and I would be specially cautious since you dont complete scolys and their digestive systems might not be fully developed

Ok good to know. I do feed very small amounts when i do feed. I feed the smallest pieces that they will latch on to. It does take a lot of energy to eat a big piece of food. Thanks for the heads up though
