Newbie here, been running my skimmer for several weeks now without issue. Then last Thursday, I mounted some corals using instant ocean epoxy stick. Afterwards my skimmer started overflowing like crazy. Is this normal? If so, how long will this last? I have my skimmer turned off for now. Shld i leav it on and let it overflow back to the sump or shld i collect the overflow in a bucket and dump it. The overdlow water seems clean... any advise would be appreciated...

It’s normal when you use epoxy stick and afterward the skimmer act all crazy. The way i had dealt with the skimmer over flowering in any cases is to have some saltwater on hand and turn off your ATO. Let the overflow from the skimmer collect in a bucket. It’ll eventually stop. Replace the same amount of saltwater it overflowed into the bucket with new into the tank. Turn back your ATO and you should be good to go.

The skimmer is going crazy probably cus of the chemical in the epoxy like the above poster said. However, just clean your skimmer cup and let it overflow until it calms down..: no need to panic. If anything it’s just aerating your water more lol. Only down side is you might have some micro bubbles in your display if they make it up there...

Tommy, is that really necessary? It’s the same water just overflowing back in... assuming his cup is cleaned and the funk isn’t going back in it should be okay until it goes back to normal

Thanks guys. So just turn on my skimmer and let the skim collect in cup. Then dump the collection. Or let the water just overflow back in to the system...

I had done it before where i let the skimmer dumped it back into the sump for weeks and that didn’t seem to fix it, so I dumped it out in a bucket and that seem to work the fastest.
