Nice score on the Bahama mama, that's a beautiful frag. I actually picked up a frag that looks a lot like your heliarc prostrata from the farmers market a few weeks ago. The seller said that it's a lot bluer in his tank.

He had a booth there, maybe it was the same guy. Money Pit Corals?

He had a very nice display and that piece looked great. Very blue.

he also runs t5 so it should color back up quick for you. I did notice it lost a lot of pop during my dip. Not sure if that’s due to parameter difference or the dip itself. I know he maintains low nutrients so it could be my elevated po4 no3

Superman montipora needs to go View attachment 102912

i really didn’t think it would start outcompeting that acan.
Montis always seem to outgrow everything around them. They're awesome to have, but for this very reason, they will be absent in my tank. It's tough getting rid of things, but that's the nature of keeping corals.

I hear that. Hopefully I can get a decent piece or pieces and just pass them along or trade them in somewhere. I got a feelign all that real thin growth is just gonna crumble away as I scrape it. Maybe I'll try a new putty knife and see what I can get off.

I only have one monti in my tank, a digi, but I put various LPS around it that keep it in check. Any time it starts to go out of bounds, it gets stung.

That's a good idea.

I was originally planning to have monti/chalice/favia cover the bottom. Now I'm thinking I have the PAR and flow down there to support acros. If they grow well and color up down there, I might sell everything non acro but my shrooms and clam and fill it in with acros. Seems like it'll be a pain with encrusting stuff down the line.

Buy some of the flat Marco rock and attach the acro frags to it. That way you can always move them and if you break them up into 4" to 5" pieces, there should plenty of real estate for the acros to encrust on. Even some of that fake Tonga branch rock would look cool with some acros growing off of them. Kinda like the fallout after a big storm hit the reef. Btw, I'll have the 36" RB fixture cleaned up for you this weekend.

Oh and Seaside was awesome enough to catch this dude out of their large frag tank for me. Those guys are too cool.
Hell have plenty of food, already looks like a tank though.

Also added 10 more blue green chromis. Hopefully it goes well. I love that they’ve been shoaling inside my false tonga rock structure and larger stagish colonies

Swapped the pair of Tropic 6500k lamps for Coral Plus. While it's a bit bluer those C+ really help light up the fish and also help bring some pop out of the corals. In a week I plan to swap Aquaspecial lamps in the fixture with new C+ as well. That'll put me at

Stella, chillin with the tank. Man I wish my acros grew as fast as her :) Such a cool pup.

Maricultured Millepora from Australia is settling in real quick and starting to show some color. Looks like a nice lavendar with yellowish tips. Showing some hints of promising color here and there. Tong's had it labeled as a rainbow milli, maybe it'll actually turn out that way. Looks to have grown some already too.

Looking good! That millie is looking great, can’t wait to see it color up even more. I really liked the C+ B+ combo when I was running T5’s. Purple+ is very close to C+ if you ever find yourself without C+.

Love t5. Will never go without them. Here’s what I did with my ati 8bulbs. Retrofitted radions in the center. Pretty much gutted the frame and made my own. Now I need a canopy that to hide everything.
Power house! T5s are hard to beat. Second only to MH for me. That setup is gonna give best of both world tho.

These coral plus lamps really make the red pop like crazy. Today I've noticed more PE in the tank. I think they are a little less PAR than the Tropics and things aren't getting hammered as hard.

I set a 20k color temp for all these. They came out pretty perfect to the eye with all t5 and blue bars on. Hyper berry I had to pull red out of the image to make it look right and lower the ISO cause this sucker glows. 4 Loko needs to be moved soon, gonna get beat out real quick. Top right, improving though!
