The SCR bawler growout, JF Pimped Out looks pretty damn cool. Not much polyp extension during the day, hopefully I don't have it in too high of PAR. Mid in the tank.

This Tong's piece has been dormant since my last system. Hopefully it'll wake up, first time I've seen polyps in a while.

Creamsicle just doesn't have the gnarly orange pop it did in my last system. Looks more like a sunset millepora coloration currently. Before it was straight orange for the most part. day or night

Unlocking WD. I feel like the addition of the blue lamps has brought out a few more pink hints since I took this picture. Not sure if that's an indication of PAR increase or just a difference of spectrum? Could also be that it's just finally shooting out.

Looking good. I'm glad things are turning around for you. I need to get things rolling on my tank soon. How's the lime in the sky doing?

It's doing well. Got some polyp extension on it. I gave it a pretty prime spot a few inches below cherry bomb. I think they'll contrast each other well.

Just yesterday I noticed that other purplish piece is throwing out some PE and encrusting too. Picture came out shaking, it's at the back of my tank and hard to get a picture under blues. This was from earlier in the week when I shot the others, it's got even more PE now.

I did have a piece RTN on me and my really pink colony is very light in color. Nutrients are still present so maybe those two new lamps shocked some stuff. Or maybe the quantapros are really just that bright? I may reduce the hours they're on.

Alright, it’s on Dino’s. 110w of UV. I chickened out plumbing it off my drain line (first picture setup) I don’t have a lot of faith in jebao, a leak or failure would be catastrophic where I could fit this. It’s pulling from my skimmer section and emptying near my return pump, fed by a sicce 1.5.

I’ll say my temp didn’t drop much last night so these must run a little warm.

Nice! Yeah, that’s the silly string acro, I knew there was another one. I’ll give you a frag of confetti when you’re ready for it again.

I still shoot a bunch and only end up with a few that came out good.

I didn’t have much luck with Avast orange filter. It’s more yellow and I’d get the same outcome you’re talking about. I didn’t play with it much though. Have you tried messing with white balance by presetting it? Usually a camera maxes out around 10,000k. Tried shooting in the 3k range then the 10k range to see which is closer and what they do then adjust from there.
A local member had a sheet of orange film I cut out for the avast porthole. That helped a bunch. it’s closer to the orange most reef shades have.

the hard part about shooting with the 90 tamron is getting more than just a polyp in focus. I shoot with a really high f stop high teens to low 20s. I have shutter speed as slow as possible without getting blur in the shot. That lets me keep my ISO as low as possible and reduces noise.

if your lights are controllable turn then 100% intensity while shooting. That alone will help a ton. Shooting through any filter makes the shot darker so crank them up and kill ambient lighting.
Yeah I've tried adjusting the white balance but still comes out kinda OK, Im gonna try other filters and see which works best. I did find with the intensity at 100% helps a lot, I have my go to handy dandy cellphone camera if all else fails.

Your tank is looking tank is looking great by the way and corals looks awesome.

Those jebao really seem to be doing a great job for me. Even in the sump. My sand is noticeably white after stirring it up yesterday. It was lighter even yesterday prior to stirring but I’m hoping that was the mail in the coffin for Dino’s.

I’ve got some GHA patches here and there. The worst is growing in the front colony that tn on me during my metal issues. No sign of bryopsis now though!
Water quality is much more clear as well. I can stand the amount of blue I’ve got on the tank, really makes it one dimensional. I may add p+ or c+ in the mix.

still have a few corals looking pale so I raised the t5 to 10” and lowered the all blue quanta period by 30 minutes.

Once I see clear sand for a few days I’ll knock the uv down to just nighttime.

So I had a hose pop off from my doser. Apparently the the hard plastic tubing I used clogged and sealed blowing the line off. The line popped off where I didn’t notice and over a few days my alk dropped from 9.3-9.6 to 6-6.3. I noticed this on Wednesday and believe it popped off Sunday/Monday. I tested during that time and thought maybe things were growing lol.

Needless to say I’ve lost some color. No actually deaths from it yet but we shall see.
When I found and fixed the problem, guess what? I caused another. I think while troubleshooting and running the pump in manual mode I pressurized the alk line enough to crack the little double nipple fitting but didn’t notice after I cleared the line clog. Well my doser is lower than the line outlet so every time it pump 90ml up 12x a day it would siphon back and spill onto the floor under the doser. So I got another giant mess to clean and my alk is still sitting at 6.7-7 dkh. (n)

I’m going back to my GEO here soon. I had to order a whole new sicce 1.5, the actual plastic was worn down inside the housing that surrounds the impeller shaft, I’m 99% that was my original issue with metals now. I’ve swapped media to a combo of TLF large reborn and Smites Reborn. Sure is pretty.

on a good note my Dino issue is gone and my water clarity is awesome right now. The dual 55w jebao really did an awesome job.
I pulled my wavebox because it was blowing right into my rockwork and coral. It also had to sit in a corner and the only spot that worked was against my overflow. That caused a lot of noise and for the water level to run high in the tank. I bought a cheap jebao 180 until I can swing a gyre 350. I moved the opposing 6105 so the jebao gyre fights the 3 pumps in a long pulse. The flow reminds me of what I had in my UNS tank. Hopefully I’ll start to see some overall improvements here soon in acro health (y)
The last real GHA problematic spot is up front and center on my red colony that’s been slowly withering for the last few months. Other than that the tank isn’t such an eyesore anymore.

Nice! Looking good. I've had a similar issue with my GHL Doser, except it's my fault for never changing the tubes, ever. Which would explain the lack of certain things not being dosed at the levels I thought they were. At least now I know where to buy the tubing for GHL dosers a lot cheaper than what they list.
That mystic sunset is gaining some ground.

Yeah that's the largest of 3 pieces in the tank. I'm tempted to just glue it to the back wall, its cool looking. Or possibly rehome it and keep a tiny piece to start over. That and my tropic thunder monti grow like crazy.

Strangest aftermath of RTN I’ve seen. It had polyp retraction for some time. Skin shed today but it was algae green? Weird

Thanks Matt! I had to shoot through a yellow filter, my phone over does the blues no matter what but this is very close to what I see in person.
I couldn’t hang with the blue look from my last post, this is with the 6500 tropics back in the mix.

I’ve got 4 blue plus, 2 actinic blue by giesemann which is very close to b+ (My 2 channel and looks awesome with the OG Pop) 2 giesemann 14k I think the are called aqua coral and 2 giesemann tropics 6500k. It also looked great with the true actinics in place of two blue lamps. This is more bright to the eye and clear though.

is this with the meso blues on too?

i was pretty sold on t5 hybrid, but i gotta factor in how lazy i am with the tank, so i'd rather just hang led strips and be done with it :D. so i'm kinda torn on going with orphek blue front / day back combo, or both day, or the quanta bars, probably both ab+ ones. i figure if i go with the day or ab+ ones, i can just adjust the radions to fine tune how i like it. if i go blue strips, i might be unable to white it up enough with just the radions? probably not, but that's my thinking at least lol

No that's just t5s on in that picture. I just took some with all lights go I'll share in a moment.

I feel like I'm already really high up in the par range throughout the tank so I'm scared to turn on the quantas at the same time. It looks pretty good when the overlap for a minute though. I'm running OG pops so very blue bars. That being said, I can see in what shaded areas I have, the blue of the quantas in tandem with the powermodule. I mention that because while the spreads awesome I'd be cautious about trying to whiten or change up your radions with any supplemental bars. Personally I'd match whatever spectrum you currently run to the best of the bars ability to avoid that look during the day. I'd probably not pair Meso or Og Pop with radions just because when the tank goes all blue I'm rarely looking front on and I know you like whiter tanks too. I'm viewing top down all blue and at that point the shading doesn't matter to me and the radion blue alone is hard to beat.

If you're running closer to 12-14k I think Luca said the daylight is in the range, 14k-18k AB+ I'd guess but he'll probably be able to answer that better for you. He was very responsive answering my questions via email.

yeah that's basically my thinking too, i just want it for supplemental "blanket" type lighting, so i'd rather not just blast things with light suddenly and it sounds like the quantas and orpheks beam light in there pretty well. i figure i'll start with one and just have it come on for an hour a two per day, and then ramp it from there. but at the same time things seem to be going pretty well so maybe i don't mess with it just to mess with it. the neverending search for perfection lol
