For sure I’ve noticed that but growth across the board is meh.
Newer stuff has faired better but no real growth with the exception of a few pieces. TGC orange creamsicle is going strong and BC aquaticman. Oregon tort is growing well along with frog skin but I swear frog skin could grow in a planted tank 😆
then I have other pieces still popping up with rtn and stn. I did find my Hannah salinity checker to be off. It read 1.025 and the TM hydrometer (big floating blown tube) was reading 1.028 which is what my ATI ICP also showed last time. I was also surprised to see no phosphates and low nitrates with no macros growing. Those combined with low ph drops seemed to do some of these pieces in. If I see >7.7 low I can count on more TN issues. I kill my co2 at night on my calcium reactor so not 100% sure what’s causing it?
I plan to run a ph test with water outdoors and a bubbler to see if I’m dealing with excessive co2 or organics suppressing the ph.
I really want to figure out how to get a good sized refugium running to help out there. I’ll probably be looking for a more triton based sump down the line
hmm that's weird, and sucks. did your other tanks have pH issues? i don't even test pH, but i'm also single with no kids and 1 kitten so i figure it should be high by default, but i do have a lot of little organisms in the tank making co2 in there lol
it's funny what's super hardy for some people. i don't think i can kill vivid rainbow delight. i can't really color it up super well, but that thing didn't give no fs about the metals in my tank. green slimer and frogskin would be stning and it'd be throwing up new branches
same with some knockoff pearlberry i have
i think my dream filtration is like a filter roller, giant skimmer, giant fuge. like you say a triton like one just loaded with macros. my filter roller dream might clash with my giant fuge plan
