You don’t feel any color change with mh vs the gen 5
Honestly a little too soon to tell. There hasn't been a major change positive or negative so far.
- under daylight it looks different because I'm now 14k compared to blue's AB+
- XHO/Radion - Looks very similar to all blue with maybe 50-75% UV/RB added. I'll say it's just as colorful as under my radions all B/RB/UV ramp down. I'd say more but I'm factoring in for the drastic change 14k/XHO.
- I experience immediate polyp extension increase 24/7. That fact that it was immediate tells me I was probably running my g5 blues too intense overall
- My consumption took a hit with the change. It dropped from 70 ml/m to I think around 50 ml/m on my kameor but has been steadily raising weekly. I'm back up to 60 ml/m now. I'm not sure if that's due to the lighting change or the too large for the tank tangs I added. I did notice my nitrates and phosphates were registering after adding them. Either way I'm writing it off as a change. My photoperiod is also shorter now because I'm not dimming the xho for ramps.
- My fans run about 50% more than with the radions. The fans are keeping the tank within 78.5-79.2F. My low is about 78F
I was able to speak with Tullio and he recommended I run the XHO along side the MH photoperiod to get teh best of both worlds. That was last week, prior I was just running xho 1 hour before and after and the 14K alone for 8 hours.
Overall I'm very happy with the swap so far. I feel like the tank looks more natural during the day and the fish look amazing. I don't need filters to take a picture during the day either, its a true representation of the coral. The fixture really does run true to their word as well, warm to the touch. Tullio said I should be okay running this on the 50x38" footprint but I think I'm going to stick with my original plan with the lumenbright large pendants.
