Disclaimer: This is not a thread asking for individuals to post, "I wouldn't recommend doing that." This is a thread requesting experience from the product.

I have been eyeing an industrial salt for the past year. I know a couple of local formulators who handle salt distribution for a couple of industries including laboratory use, and they use this as well as another construction grade salt for synthetic seawater purposes. They do not use our expensive grade salt which we have grown accustomed to.

This stuff does not dissolve as quickly as the fine white powder we own. It comes from the San Diego Estuary in Chula Vista. It has pretty strict harvesting requirements, but its cost per 50# is pennies on the dollar vs even the least expensive pet-related alternative.

My question is very simple:

Has anyone ever TRIED using this stuff? South Bay Salt from South Bay Salt Works. I have about 5 gallons left that I am considering trying out in a couple experiments. I would just like to know who else might also have tried using it, and what your findings were over a chit chat so that I can help isolate some possible outcomes.

Thanks

I haven't used this salt bit would be willing to try it for a nano tank and see what happens.

I don't suppose you have any more information on the salt other than what you posted?

I'll try and get the SDS and tech data posted today, speaker.

Thank you for the interest, as well. I will try and arrange sending you some.
