So I am looking into going for the t-slot stand and I am confused on the joints. Do I need to fill them into the t-slot extrusions or do you just screw them on? I am doing a 36x30x30 stand. Also do I need cross beading if I am putting a tank in the middle or will plywood suffice.

I have an 80/20 extruded aluminum stand at home that I got from someone. I'll take a look and see how the joints were attached and get back to you. I'd put the cross beam in and one down the back. Add as much support as you can bc it's better to over-engineer than under.

Miter joint connections if possible. Otherwise all aforementioned joints are the same (strength wise)

For your aluminum stand (the interior frame) you want t-slot corner cubes. You can build an entire frame out of the extrusion sections and corner cubes. (Google them) It is best if every corner cube has vertical support. When you are designing your frame if you have a corner cube anywhere that is "floating" and doesn't have an extrusion piece immediately below it running to your foundation frame you need to put an extrusion piece in.

If you build your internal frame strong enough to carry the entire weight of the tank, it doesn't matter how you hang your wood skin - because it is serving only a decorative (not functional) purpose.

I think I am going to stay away from t-slot stand expensive and I am not going to getting that feeling of working with my hands like a wood stand
