So my tank is just about a year old now, and everything has been perfect up until about a month ago.

My zoas are closed up, and look melting. And its happening day by day. Started on the left side of tank and slowly they are melting/closing.

I would assume I have some kind of pest.

I added a lemon peel a month or a little more ago which was a huge mistake because he has eaten $1000 woth of LPS corals....whole nother issue.....(I know...I know...)

they look like those pictures above.

My questions is this....

How do I or should I dip? What should I dip with? And what about the zoas I have that are attached on and inbetween rocks. I have several large colonies.

I have heard using bayer advanced from home depot is ok?

Also my water parameters are all normal, and I do bi-weekly 20% water changes.

Any input and or advice would help. I want my tank to look like it did a month or so ago.

If you need more information please let me know.

Is it just the zoas that look bad? I know you said they are fine but What are your parameters

I your water parameters are normal then it must be some kinda pests..maybe zoa eating nudi? zoa pox??? You need to take a closer look at some of the colonies to see if you can see anything on it. If you dip with Bayer make sure it's real low concentration or you will probably kill it. You might try dipping with Revive..probably safer. If it's zoa pox try Furan 2 ...it works well for me in the past.

What are your water parameters? Dip what you can but make sure its a pest problem. Most likely though you will need to dip more than once to bring the pest population down. You can also get some melanurus or 6 line wrasse to help with pest control

PH 8.3

DKH 9ish

Calcium 450

Salinity 1.025-1.026

Magnesium 1350

Temp 80 DegF +-2

no ammonia, no nitrite and a little nitrade like 10ppm

and it is only the zoas, my SPS and the few LPS my lemon peel didn't eat are all doing fine.

I have large rocks with the melted/closed zoas on them. Do I dip the entire rock?
