For starter
First sets of question

Where do you drain and replenish the water direct from the main Display or through the Sump.

How much water do you drain.

I fill up 5 gallon jugs with a sipon. Usually 15-20 gallons weekly. Then pour new saltwater back into the sump. Its a PITA but only way to do it for my tank. And I replace my filter sock every 2-3 days.

I drain from the sump. Turn off the return pump, drop in a MaxiJet 1200 with a 1/2" ID hose secured by a stainless steel metal hose clamp. Suck out the crud in the bottom especially from the return area. Change socks.

To fill I drop the maxijet w/ attached hose in the 5 gallon bucket and fill the sump with as many buckets that I took out. Turn return pump on.

I do a 10% wc weekly and change socks every 1-2 days.

This is how it will be done after xmas/new years. ---
- I have a 50 gallon barrel that circulates with the tank. It has a ball valve
- i turn off the valve, put a pump in it and drain the water out
- i turn on the pump in my other 50 gallon barrel [rodi] and pump in 50 gallons
- i put 55 to 58 [1 cup scoops] of Tropic Marin Reef and let it stir for 24 hours
- check the salinty and temp
- if all is okay i open the valve and release the 50 gallons back into the tank
