Since 2015 until 2023, over 10,000 cases were brought before the courts for falsifying business records and this was in New York alone. Also, the only administration that’s behaving like fascist is the current one. What is Trump currently doing? Oh yeah, acting like a fascist. Deporting people for writing an opinion piece that you may not agree with, that’s not fascist? You keep mentioning weaponize, but you seem to overlook what’s currently going on. Trump is the only one threatening people for having a different opinion or who disagree with him, and you’re calling liberals/democrats fascist?

That’s actually a flat out lie, which is to be expected by fascists. There has only been one person charged with a felony and that is your sitting and democratically elected president of the United States, Donald J Trump.

Seriously? The law in which they prosecuted Trump under was adopted in 1986, what are you even talking about? I’m just relaying facts here, that’s all I’m doing, and now I’m a threat to democracy? I’m not the one who is giving one person so much power and support as if he was a king or dictator. That is the real threat to democracy. No one should give one person that much power.

Do I like high tariffs? Hello no. Do I think it is a winning strategy? Nope. Do I think Trump should be allowed to hike tariffs? Yeah, I do.
Trump ran on the promise of high tariffs during his campaign and he won. He should be able to fulfill his commitments even if it is detriment to the economy and may destroy many family businesses. I firmly believe that's how democracy works. The majority voted for what he wanted to do. We have to deal with the consequences.
But the notion that billionaires all of a sudden started to care about lower/middle class is quite amusing. Elon wants what's best for you. Sureeeee. LOL. They don't care about your business or inflation, it has no impact on them.
As for tariffs and trade war, I just want it to be well planned and executed, and give businesses a chance to react. Stop flip flopping and stick to a real number that he can commit to. Everyone knew 145% is not sustainable because he just kept escalating it based on temper tantrum and emotion. This is complete lunacy because we know there will be zero products on the shelves if he kept 145%. But if he is that committed to high tariffs, then stick with it. This schizo tariff % uncertainty is what is killing us. Now it looks even dumber to lower the tariff without any significant deals, just a lot of pie on the face and pissed off allies/ex-trading partners.

Citizens United sealed our fate as working class people, this alone made it so both parties would be taken over by corporations. Although there are a few people in Congress/government who are truly working for the middle class, they are simply outnumbered by those who want power and money. When we have two parties who only funds raise and don’t pass bills that actually help people, we lose as a society. As a Union member, as an American and the son of a veteran, I can’t tell you how sad it makes me feel to see how divided this country has become, only for the wealthy to get even richer and the wealth divide get even bigger. We’re Americans, but we’re human beings first and being born here doesn’t make you a better person, it makes you lucky. Too often we associate people with their respective governments and that creates even more division.
I would love to have manufacturing come back here, but I fear that it is near impossible unless corporations are willing to take a pay cut with less profits for the betterment of the people and unfortunately, I don’t think that will ever happen.
The other thing that really hurts this country is the lack of understanding and empathy. We no longer listen to people and have an adult conversation, we simply give our opinion and stay within our bubble.
I’ll tie this hobby into the conversation here, the one thing that I truly enjoy and appreciate about the reefing hobby is the fact that I keep learning from it. I’ve met so many different people because of this hobby. People who have vastly different religious beliefs, political beliefs, methodology, etc, yet, I can still be friends with them, listen and learn from them and have an open mind, because if you have an open mind, you just might learn something new and appreciate someone else’s point of view, regardless if you agree with it or not. Most of the people who I have met in this hobby share a like mind of wanting to learn more and what to help others. People who want to share knowledge and who want someone else to be successful. I get no joy from others suffering.

But I did just notice that the tariffs are in place as of yesterday. Tried to buy a Kamoer dosing pump for my Calc reactor since for 10 years I relied on a acclimation dropper for the effluence. On aliexpress.

Do you remember back in 2019 when an engineered virus was accidentally released from Chinese laboratory during gain of function development? Interesting take. If prices go up because of tariffs, even if tariffs come down...the prices won't come back down to previous levels because vendor/suppliers realize that there is no alternative. Hmm....
And confirmation that small businesses need a transition plan or help. Some type of loan or bridge to get to US manufacturing. Not just a high tariff and then no support for small businesses with no alternative.
