So I'm making the change. I'm switching the old freshwater tank into a saltwater reef tank. It is a tall 30 gallon. So far I got the stock filter, 150 chiller, 250 watt M H, and a 800 Rio water pump. I'm going to get 45 pounds of fiji live rock. How much sand is needed? How far from the tank should I hang the M H. Any other suggestions feel free to post.

Thanks

nice to hear you are making the change.
how much sand you get is up to you, some have no sand at all in their tanks. But I believe the norm is usually around 2 inches deep (give or take an inch)
