Our new 100 gallon tank upgrade is almost ready. Thinking of getting a paired yasha goby and pistol shrimp. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks, in advance!

It’s a cool little goby, isn’t it? Was it paired with a pistol shrimp? If not, are you planning on getting a pistol?

I haven't decide yet if I'm going to get a Randall pistol or even keep the yasha, but their relationship are cool. I'm still researching to see what's the risk of the pistol harming my pair of baby mandarin. tank is only 14 gallon and I don't use a cover either so there's also risk of the yasha jumping out. Yasha's in QT so I have 7 more weeks to decide haha.

I have a yasha goby / candy cane pistol pair... they were great in my 22gal, a little less great once i moved them to my 65gal... you never really know where they're going to setup shop and sometime that means rarely seeing them... food for thought when you throw them into your 100

I agree with Uclajay. From my past experience with the Yasha goby Its better to put them in a smaller tank. This way you be able to see him more often.

100 gallon may be too large for a yasha goby, you may never see him/her. You may want to get a larger goby for that size tank, or attach a display refugium and put it in there.
