Hi all, another question. How to keep your torches healthy? My torches are surviving but their flesh band are very narrow. They are splitting at decent pace I guess, but the polyps are very close together and flesh band are about 5mm or less. Any helpful hints are appreciated. By the way, I occasionally dip them using KFC method (without the antibiotics) but it doesn't seem to help much. It could be that I don't dip them consistently enough yet. Thanks.

I agree with stable parameters even if on the higher side. my nitrates are 25 and phosphates .20 but my Torches and lps grow quickly.

Stability is the one that keeps eluding me. I have to adjust my dosing all the time. Trying not to chase the numbers but it's hard because the numbers are hardly stay in the same place

My Tank Build

How old is your tank?

In the first 6 months, numbers will be all over the place. Rocks are still being seasoned, and it is absorbing phosphates. Coralline algae is establishing. Sandbed is soaking up phosphates and bacteria is growing on everything. A lot is going on.

Then I feel like the 6-12 months, it starts tapering off, and you start to control the parameter better but you are adjusting the dosing to smaller swings. But you know dinos, GHA, and all kinds of stuff will grow because not everything is good that grows.

After 12 months, the tank starts really maturing and the tank is reaching stability if you can get the right bacteria populated and gotten over the uglies.

I'm at 15 months on my tank, and I'm finally feeling good about my tank. I lost a lot of corals and SPS frags along the way. But my parameters are consistent.
