So, I won a couple Triton tests in a raffle and thought I would give them a shot and at least dial in my test kits. I'm trying to decipher what to do with them. Do you guys trust their dosing recommendations?

The Calcium and Magnesium I understand
What should I do about the Copper?
Should I bother dosing any of the others?

Calcium and Magnesium were a bit low - suggested dosing (Ca - 381; Mg - 1171)
Copper(Cu) (Tested- 22ppb ; Target - 1ppb)
Suggested Action: Application DETOX: Take activated carbon and Phosphate media out of the system, add 3ml Detox / 100l of aquarium water. After 3 days, put on fresh activated carbon (Phosphate media can now also be introduced again), activated carbon should be changed after 7 days.
Potassium - slightly low (suggested dosing)
Silicon - very high - suggested Renew PO4 remover media, use AL99 or RowaPhos / PhosBan ) - I am currently running RowaPhos

Also suggested dosing Iodine, Boron, Sulphur, Bromine, Potassium

Thanks.

What Djrice is asking is important. You need to find what is leeching copper or any other metals. Use metalsorb if you don’t want to use detox. I do trust triton. They have been around a long time and have a good track record. If look into why these things are also going out of wack, salt, additives, frequency of wc, are you doing wc....?

I have no idea where the copper is coming from. Here are their suggestions:
1. Contaminated trace element solutions - don't use
2. Bio-pellets - dont use
3. Contaminated salts - I buy my water at an LFS
4. Contaminated food - I haven't changed my food but none of the ones I use are old.
5. Corroding metals or magnets near the water - Ive checked for this. Can't find anything. All the covers on my pumps and powerbeads are good.

I am going to test it with my own kit just to be certain.

I do about 10% wc a week. If I miss a week I will do 20% the next week.

Catalina water is not reef water. There are no reefs off of Catalina (at least one like you want) Your test is not going to be as accurate as triton. Consider making your own water

So I just did a Seachem Copper Test. I will try to upload the pic.

The clear one is a test of my water...testing with 0 Copper.
The blue one is the Copper Reference Sample at .5

Jose, I feel incredibly stupid but I thought Catalina was the name of the company. I didn't think it was water from Catalina island. Im wondering if this is the explanation for a few odd things over the years?

I will get my own salt system set up. In the meantime, where can I get "Reef water"

Catalina is the name of a water company. It has nothing to do with Catalina island. They used to get their water from Los Angeles harbor somewhere. Many wholesalers and LFS have used their water without any issues for years. I used it myself when I was working at one. I prefer Scripts ocean water as it comes off the end of the long Scripts pier with the pick up in the deep water trench there. Both can be a bit low in calcium and magnesium sometimes.
