My Tank Build
I have been on reef2reef for years but wanted to find something more local so I am glad I found this group.
You can see my tank progression best on my YouTube channel. To summarize it:
I started with 60 gallon tall from petco in early 2020-difficult tank since so narrow and no sump but good timing since it was up before COVID hit.
I then bought a used 425 XL Redsea from someone close-it leaked after a few years-nightmare as anyone with a leak knows. Saved most of the coral/fish though because I had a tank setup in the garage.
I then bought a IM 200 EXT-was doing great....then it leaked. Lost a lot of corals from that one.
They sent me a replacement that was doing ok...then it leaked as well!
They sent me a 3rd replacement tank but obviously I was done with IM at that point and I sold the replacement.
I crammed everything into 2 40 gallon breeders and 1 20 gallon breeder in my garage and ordered a glass cages tank.
Glass cages takes forever so it was a long wait but worth it. I love the tank, mostly. I made the mistake of not researching the overflow enough but otherwise the tank is great.

I have had a lot of IM EXT/INT 200 owners reach out to me about my leaks. I am the only one I know of that has had once leak and I had two leak. I honestly think I have some sort of insane worms that eat through the seams. All three of my leaks were not the traditional seam failures. All three (the redsea 425 and both IM EXT 200s) were small punctate leaks. Very strange. Obviously, when I ordered the glass cages tank I got armored seams everywhere. They all come with bottom seams and I ordered vertical seam guards as well. So far, so good.

As my SPS are growing quickly I am starting to frag them. I do have frags to trade/sell/etc. Reach out if you see something on the video you like.

Here is my newest tank video:

The tank looks great. It's wild to hear about two IM tanks leaking on you. Thank you for sharing your tank.

You forget how big the acros are until you see them from above. Some overhead pics during a water change today.

Top view is the very best and in my book, the only way to truly admire corals. But that’s just me, I’m a clam guy, so it’s the only view.

I am going Saturday. I have lots of the green ricordias. The orange ones also split often and float around the tank. I can let you know the next time one does.
