So I got the storm clowns about a week ago and they seem to be doing fine till today they were still a little active but not as much. I didn't think much of it and just 9pm today, one started to breathing heavily and laid on its side. I quickly scoop it up with the fish swimming away from the net a bit but caught it before it ran into the rock works. I visually examine them and see that one had something on its bottom lip while the 2nd one had its under belly inflated. (see photos below) I quickly mixed up some tank water and Iodine together and did a 10-15min dip on the fish. Their in the sump now with low flow but are on their sides. I hope they make it over night. Can someone give me some suggestions on where to go with these guys at this point my heads running in circle trying to figure out how to keep them alive.

no sure what's causing them to act this way. My tanks and other fish in the tank seem to be doing just fine.

Fish #1: Something is on its bottom chin...

Fish #2: Inflated belly...

I purchased these from a supplier down in San Diego. It’s been over night and Unfortunately they did not make it, both storms passed away this morning. :(

Due to these events lately, it’s got me on the edge of putting this hobby on hold and parting everything out. Spent A LOT of money over the years with this tank and I understand that it’s part of the hobby but it’s money I really don’t have at the moment and I believe that money could have gone a long way with helping my family with their own situations. I’m at that 1% step to putting my hands up and walking away. I hate having to see animals die and we can’t do nothing about it, we try to figure things out and correct them but in the end it’s always a small percentage that actually make a good turn around.

Did you contact the supplier? Have you added any other fish recently? No need to throw in the towel unless you are having other issues. Just let the tank be and enjoy it for what it is.

my supplier would not cover any lost once fish are handed over. everything else in the tank seems to be doing fine corals and the other 10 fishes but I have no idea what happened. its hard to sit around and see money being dump down the drain when I currently lost my job.

Considering your situation, it would be best to just keep the ship steady & on course. Don’t add anymore cargo to the tank, no matter how enticing it might look, believe me, your will power is constantly being tested in this hobby. Regarding your loss, I can not stress enough the importance of a quarantine system & tons of patience. Fish go through an insane & stressful journey before ending up in a home aquarium. A quarantine tank gives you, as well as the fish, a fighting chance & a higher survival rate for your fish. In quarantine, the animals can easily be observed, given a proper introduction to an aquarium, have it accustomed to prepared foods & it also allows you to throw everything but the kitchen sink at it, whenever the signs of disease begin to show without adding more stress to the animal. Good luck with any future tank mates.
