Yeah man, that'd be awesome if you can let me know how it looks at UC.

That pink lemonade is pretty cool looking. He's got a few good looking pieces in there.

I might swing by Unique later this week, so I can look at that one. Also, check out another local vendor here in the valley (Woodland Hills) Reef Exclusive, he has some cool stuff and the prices seem pretty good.
https://reefexclusive.top/acros-signature his pink lemonade looks pretty cool.
Don't mean to derail the conversation, but what the heck is up with this vendor renaming/rebranding all these well known pieces?

I think he's trying to say these are his versions of those corals. Something I think a lot of vendors do, but they are trying to pass fakes for the real deal. At least he's paying homage to those particular pieces and not trying to pass them as the real deal. I honestly think there are only a handful of true lineage pieces out there, the rest are copies or wanna be's, same piece with a different name, etc. I think if he listed them as Vivid confetti, or Tyree whatever, then that's an issue. He's also not charging a fortune for most of those pieces. I also think names are silly for the most part. I think something to get mad about would be tiny nubs and single polyps of zoanthus for hundreds of dollars, now that is just fucking crazy. Let's sell a single polyp the size of a pencil eraser and charge $500+ and not be able to see the "detail/design" without the aid of a magnifying glass, that's just fucking stupid! Sorry, Matt, rant over and back to your regular thread.

The name game is tricky. It's hard to nail down acropora specifically to sub-type and the name games are out of control and get confusing. Still somewhat needed for lineage purposes. I had the same thought when I saw that pink lemonade and it was a completely different structure than I expected but it's not Tyree pink lemonade it's REx's version, so that's fine by me. That particular case is less confusing to me than multiple vendors with the same piece and all different names, but still needed I guess. I think some feel inclined to give a trade name to corals to help ID or reference the piece (also help sell) but they maybe don't care for the name game so just kinda draw from a pool of names that they feel fits the bill?

The whole price thing is kinda nuts. Specially combined with the frag size of some of the high end pieces. It's basically insurance that it will take a long as possible for the buyer to get to a fragging size and compete for sales. I 100% can understand that perspective but it sure does suck when your a reefer who just wants to let stuff grow, but still wants higher end pieces but it is wha it is.
A real frag like BC sells compared to a sub 1" single branch is such a big difference in growth rate and survival rates. When that's taken into account BC has some of the fairest prices out there.

WWC After Party does look like another cool yellow piece. Thanks for the recommendation!

I totally agree with you on Adam's prices, especially when you get a battlebox, some of those boxes work out to be $60 a frag and they're priced individually much higher than that, so it's a killer deal all around. I'm totally behind true lineage corals and their price tag, especially something like the Tyree Purple Monster, to me it's worth every single penny. Knowing that particular coral came from one individual animal and can be traced all the way back makes it worth it to me. I just hate seeing obvious chop-shop pieces go for crazy money, to me that's the thing I hate the most. The other thing I really like about Adam, is the way he treats his corals. He's not trying to cut them up and get them out there, he actually takes the time to make sure that they'll be good as true aquacultured corals. He usually sits on pieces for a few years before releasing, which most places/vendors should do. At minimum, you should sell frags from the F1 parent and not the OG. Otherwise, it's not aquacultured at all. I think Vivid got lucky on some of their pieces, like confetti, rainbow delight, etc...these frags survived and kept going, but others have come and gone. When you think about the pieces that survived and keep going, that list gets smaller. I just wish that vendors would be realistic with what they are selling to hobbyist, true aquacultured or chop-shop.
