What do hobbyists want out of a reef based website?

We all know of reefcentral.com, reefs.org and the many others of reef oriented websites that exist for all of us.

What is currently lacking? What would you like to see?

There's plenty of forums we all know that much, but what other things would hobbyist's like to see incorporated into a reef based website?

Any ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?

I think ReefCentral has a great format not much is missing..... Ohhhhhh wait except for freedom of speech!!!!
I want a ReefCentral format without the nazi SS troopers banning people for the most random reasons, if there were an alternative to RC I would never log back in.

every forum has them... every forum... if someone has power, it's always used... even for the most tedious hypocritical reason... if you were a mod and could you would too... there's no equality in forums...






except for the ratemyfishtank forum... but that got infested with newbs and dimwits... landpirates has a great off topic... we got rid of all the nazzi mod's there...

i totally disagree with you gumbii, i have never seen the "nazi SS troopers" like RC has at this forum or at WWR, or even R2R for that matter. There is a huge difference between having power and abusing power, and RC abuses its power.

Gumbii you're wrong power does not turn everyone into an A HOLE or a dictator, there are plenty of people with integrity in the reefing hobby that would make great moderators.

I also RC needs to have some kind of official process that you can appeal and or simply get a response from instead of just kicking you off without any explanation.

RC has become too big for their britches. They don't worry about dumping a few members because they have new ones signing up all the time. sad thing is that a good number of the people they have dumped are some of the most knowledgeable reefers I know.

that... RC is HUGE!... look at their list of sponsors... look at how many mods they actually have... look at how fast a thread about pit bulls would just turn into a full on debate about nothing... they have to be moderated...



if you look at the real large forums (honda-tech, IGN boards, offtopic.com, bikeforum) they have some strict rules and will ban you without warning... the only one that's not like that is 4chan...

this is a tiny insignificant forum compared to all those... if something here gets out of hand, it stays somewhat hidden or forgotten right away... or it's resolved by the members...



and you guys don't know what really goes on around here... srsly... everyone just forgets in this forum...

This site lacks nothing that RC has except subscribers. The only reason I logged on to RC was to contact certain people. For some unkown reason they fail to log on here and instead complain about RC. I assume people either like being under other peoples thumbs, or are just lemmings that like to follow instead of stepping out and controlling their ownselves.
People that buy or get free stuff from me on CL I always refer to this site and never RC.
There is no reason that I can see or think of that this site isn't as big if not bigger than Southern California Reefers. This is a true Southern California Reef site ran by Southern Californians that simply move our ill placed postings to the proper forum instead of banning us. Thanks Jose. Not some East coast guy with what seems to be a hate for us on the Pacific.
