I got this cool little dude (electric flame scallop) 4 months ago as a novelty knowing that it would probably not last more than a few weeks because in the past I tried once or twice and that was the longest I could keep them. But now with phyto and reef roids perhaps there was a chance it could live..and sure enough I have been feeding this cool creature live phyto and reef roids every day or every other day and it's such a pleasure to watch. Has anyone kept one long term?

My wife saw one today at the LFS and I had to tell her I couldn’t keep it alive. I’m not sure what they feed on but many years ago I tried heavy phyto feeding and still only lasted a month or two.

You should have gotten it...such an amazing animal..and i really think reef roids might be the magic bullet. And the way I saw it wen I got mine was "better me getting it now than someone with the lazy reefing mindset i had the first time i got one."

Interesting. My last attempt was well before reef roids was on the market. My tank is small and keeping phosphate stable is a constant effort, so I only use reef roids occasionally and sparingly. It’s quite effective at raising phosphate!

I hope yours keeps thriving. They are unique and interesting for sure.

Well....we had a good run kid. 4 months it lasted but last two nights i noticed the shell completely shut and wen I picked it up right now it wasn't attached and that's because it was completely empty..rip electric flame scallop...I won't kill another one ever again.
