I've tried berghias twice, and both times, they have done nothing to my aiptasia. This was months ago when I put them in, and I look at night...nada.

So where are people sourcing their berghias and who has decent sized ones.

I'm so frustrated trying to find a good source, but also not get killed on something that may or may not work. I may start a small aiptasia tank, just so when I do get berghia, I start them in that tank...so no predators and they can find each other.

What is everyone else doing?

There is a long term member that usually has some but he got cleared out about a month ago so I will have to wait until he spawns more.

I got a few from wine country corals... huge and healthy. I tried to set them up in a satellite tank off of my temperate tank. The adults are doing fine but I think it is too cold for the eggs to hatch. I think I am going to transfer them to my clown tank and see what happens.

I PM'ed him, but did not respond. I thought he may have lost his stock. I'll hit him up again.

If you don’t have zoas, a file fish eradicate all your aiptasias in a week! I have one FF that you can borrow. He will go after zoas if there are no aiptasias left.

Dood, I got a bunch of zoas and clams. I'm afraid to use filefish, copperband and stripey.

Did you get them while they were at the show, or was it shipped? And how much were they?

If you need to move those berghias, let me know. Do you have a lot of aiptasia? They need aiptasia to survive.

IMO, might be easier to use filefish and move zoas temporarily or jerry-rig a cover for your clam. The filefish usually only go after the zoas after all the aiptasia have been eaten. Nudis tend to disappear in high flow environments or get eaten by wrasses.

Use Sodium Hydroxide (Lye). I mix it up in about a 4:1 (which is fairly strong), sometimes I use 3:1 ratio put it in a syringe with a long needle, turn off all the pumps and nuke them, I let it sit for about 15 minutes before turning the pumps back on. It will also raise the pH for a while. Having said that care needs to be taken with this stuff as it gets hot when mixing and be careful of surrounding corals and snails. I have been using this method for several years and it works like a charm. Thanks to the late Jake Adams where I learned of this. If you want any further info please feel free to ask.

This is what I did with the FF but you know what? Now I have a few aiptasias that just popped up. Long term solution (for me, not for the OP) is to use a CBB.

I can't remove my zoas, it's stuck to the main rocks.
